Anglican Training Courses, Guyana

Target: £6,670 / €7,675 | Project 477

Growing the church

Guyana is the poorest country in South America, but the Anglican Church is active in many communities and an important presence at national level.

Guyana became independent from Britain in the 1960s, but has continued to struggle with its ethno-cultural divide, and this has contributed to its unsteady politics.

The church recently refurbished a training centre in Annai, with support from USPG. This year, the church is training new church leaders to grow the church through its Anglican training courses.

In their own words:

The Anglican Church is encountering the problem of losing some of its members, especially its youth. We believe this training is vital to reverse this cycle. –Kelvin Saul, Secretary for the Diocese of Ghana
