Mission Girls’ Hostel in North India

Target: £6,840/€7,860| Project 470
Providing rural children with education
Mission Girls’ Hostel, in Khariar, is providing 40 girls from single parent families with an education, accommodation and food.
Most of the girls’ parents are illiterate, earning less than £1 per day. Hostel student Smruthi Rani wants to be a nurse when she grows up. Her father died of cancer, but might have lived longer if better healthcare had been available. This fact has inspired Smruthi to want to become a medical practitioner to serve her community.
Smruthi comes from the small village of Nuapada, in the District of Orrisa.
