St Paul's School, Myanmar

Primary students at Anglican school in Myanmar

Target: £2,990/€3,990 | Project 455

Providing children from deprived backgrounds with middle-school education.

The Diocese of Myitkyina is a severely under-resourced part of Myanmar (also known as Burma). This is partly due to its location in the north of the country, removed from government centres; it borders China to the east and India to the north, and is in the foothills of the Himalayas. People here must contend with the remote rugged landscape, with little access to education and other social services.

However, with help from USPG, the diocese is providing education as part of own core ministry.

In their own words:

"When young people reach a high standard of formal education, it is easier for them to find work in towns. They can also read the Bible and be better disciples of Christ" - The Rt Revd David Than Lwin, Diocese of Myitkyina
