Rural Community Healthcare, Myanmar

Target: £15,480/€17,800 | Project 421
Providing healthcare for rural communities in Mandalay and Yangon
Myanmar (also known as Burma) has one of the world’s most under-resourced healthcare systems; tens of thousands dying each year from malaria, tuberculosis, AIDS, dysentery, diarrhoea and other illnesses.
For impoverished village communities in the mountainous region of Yangon and Mandalay, healthcare is sometimes non-existent. Although healthcare is ostensibly free, the reality is that patients have to pay for medicines and treatment, even in public clinics and hospitals.
