St James’ Hospital, Lesotho

Target: £33,860/€45,150 | Project 215
Offering a unique medical outreach to the community of Mantšonyane
Lesotho has 60 per cent unemployment, widespread poverty and a lack of natural resources. A recent UNICEF report predicted that 24 per cent of children in the country would be orphaned (due to HIV/AIDS) by 2010.
The Anglican Church has a major role to play in responding to these challenges. St James' Hospital is offering medical outreach to a community of Mantšonyane high up in the mountains of Lesotho.
Founded in 1963 by the Anglican Church, St James’ Hospital has 60 beds and supervises six health centres, one clinic and two village health posts.
